Review of Thaikhun Nottingham

A few weeks ago, the lovely people at Thaikhun in Nottingham invited myself and the kids along to try our their kids menu. Now I'll be honest, I'd eaten there before with a friend and I never knew they catered for kids, so this was a pleasant surprise!

As a lover of Thai food, I was really eager to take the kids along for their first Thai meal but I was concerned they wouldn't like the style of food. After a quick look at the kids menu I knew they'd be fine as it seemed quite kiddie friendly, if a little limited.

The new restaurant is situated in the Food Court at Victoria Centre in Nottingham. I'm loving all the new restaurants the new food court is bringing us - there really does appear to be something for everyone! Although I did take my eldest to Ed's Easy Diner last month and didn't rate our experience (it was so cold as it's an open plan restaurant!) but I knew Thaikhun was more welcoming and cosy so I was happy to take along the kids.

The kids menu isn't extensive so the 2 youngest dinners (aged 5 and 8) opted for Bangkok chicken which was essentially fried chicken with lettuce leaves. In hindsight I should have ordered a sharer to accompany their chicken but as we'd ordered starters it ended up being more than enough food so I needn't have worried.

My eldest is 11 so he ordered from the main menu and he was delighted with his meal, as were both adults.

The desserts were fab and thoroughly enjoyed by the kids, I had a peppermint tea and it was a perfect way to end my meal. My youngest had the most enormous Banana Fritters and practically devoured them!

The staff are really lovely and even when we had a spillage they couldn't do enough to help. I did worry about taking younger children but actually the restaurant has a real bustling vibe so I didn't have to worry about noise etc. The kids also got a colouring in pack alongside their menu so that was nice to keep younger ones entertained. It was so nice to be able to eat food I really enjoyed instead of dealing with a rushed meal at a fast food outlet which normally results in a very unhealthy food choice for me...

Would I go back? Yes. The staff also tell me their launching a new kids menu and I'm sure both kids would go again which makes me happy as I can never get enough of Thai food!

Thank you to Thaikhun in Nottingham inviting us for a free meal. All opinions and images are my own.
